CALF NUTLETS
4% OIL, 18% PROTEIN, 9% FIBRE
A high specification 3mm pellet designed to be fed from 2 weeks to 8 weeks of age.
A natural live yeast supplement is included to improve nutrient digestibility and liveweight gain. Typical feed rates are 1 to 1.5 kg per day depending on the type and quality of forage available.
CALF COARSE MIXTURE
3.5% OIL, 17% PROTEIN, 7.5% FIBRE
A palatable molassed coarse mix containing cooked cereals which may be fed as an altenative to Calf Nutlets. A natural live yeast is included to improve nutrient digestibility and growth rates.
REARING FEEDS
MAXIGROW CALF NUTS
4.75% OIL, 17% PROTEIN, 11.0% FIBRE
Maxigrow Calf Nuts are designed to be introduced as the sole first feed from 3 - 5 days of age when it should be fed fresh daily and uneaten food removed. From 3 weeks of age Maxigrow should be offered ad-libitum. Maxigrow is based on the very latest research in to maximising growth rates of calves. Selected protein sources supply the optimum ratio of Lysine and Methionine and a natural yeast supplement is added to improve nutrient digestibility and liveweight gain. Research shows that higher growth rates in early life leads to improved milk yield and growth rates in later life. Some of the key benefits of Maxigrow are:
- Higher Intakes - It has been shown that calves will eat an additional 22kg of a
6mm nut in the first 12 weeks compared with a 3mm pellet. - Faster Growth - Trials show an 11% increase in daily liveweight gain.
- Lower Cost - The feed cost per kilo of liveweight gain was £1.24 on the 6mm trial compared
with £1.31 when fed a 3mm pellet. - Heavier Calves - Trial calves were 6.7kg heavier at 12 weeks of age.
CALF REARING NUTS
4.5% OIL, 16% PROTEIN, 9.5% FIBRE
Calf Rearing Nuts may be introduced at 8 weeks of age by mixing with the previous diet and the continuity of flavouring allows for an easy transition between diets. The ration is designed to be fed up to at least 6 months of age or even later. The level of feeding will be dependant on the quality of forage on offer and the rearing system.
HEIFER REARING NUTS
4.75% OIL, 19% PROTEIN, 8% FIBRE
Available in loose bulk only.
Target age and weight table for heifers
Heifer Rearing Nuts are a high specification diet formulated for higher genetic merit dairy replacements. A high level of rumen bypass protein is included to allow good structural growth and development together with the correct energy balance to support growth without excessive fat deposition. A balanced vitamin and trace element supplement is also included. Introduce Heifer Rearing Nuts at 10 weeks of age and feed with good quality straw. Limit the daily feed to 3kg increasing to 4kg at 12 months. Heifers should only be served once they have reached 90% of their desired mature height and, once in calf, the feeding rate of the Heifer Rearing nuts shuld be reduced to 3.5kg per day with straw. If silage is fed, or if the heifers are turned out on to limited grazing, then Heifer Rearing Nuts should be fed at 2kg per day with ad lib straw.
Heifers should be introduced to the production forage three weeks before calving and offered a suitable pre-calver concentrate.
